ITI has identified the need to guide buyers of translation and interpreting services towards professional service providers.
It has developed its own post-experience benchmark assessment process that verifies not only the practitioner's ability to deliver a good translation, but also their capacity to deliver a professional service.
The MITI membership grade – Member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting – is recognised by suppliers and users of translation and interpreting services around the world as a benchmark of quality and professionalism. Translators and interpreters who are entitled to bear the MITI badge of distinction have undergone a stringent process of peer assessment and review and have demonstrated clear experience of working in the sector.
Our online Find a Professional resource is a directory of members who have obtained this mark of quality. To search the directory, you need to know your source language (that is the language your document is written in or your conference presenter is speaking in) and your target language (the language that you need your document to be translated into, or that your conference delegates want to hear presentations in). Since translators and interpreters work in specific sectors, such as Finance, Law, Medicine and Technology, you should also specify a subject area. If you are unable to find someone in your specific subject, you can broaden the search somewhat to a wider sector. Search for a translator or search for an interpreter.
