Whether you’re an established professional translator or interpreter, a translation company or translation department in a university, or are just starting out in your career in translation and interpreting, we have a membership grade to suit you.

With more than 3000 members, ITI as an organisation encourages professional development, supports its members and acts as a strong voice for the industry.

Since its foundation in 1986, ITI has worked hard to ensure the values and reputation of its members are upheld; the Institute is recognised as representing the highest standards in the profession of translating and interpreting, and its name is trusted and respected both in the UK and internationally.

We offer all members networking opportunities, event and workshop discounts, personal development support and access to the members' area on the ITI website. This dedicated area houses a wealth of information from business guidance, reviews and recommendations for business tools to the interactive member forum. The benefits of becoming a member vary depending on what membership category you fall into. Each category requires you to match certain criteria based on your experience. More details can be found in the membership categories section.

Code of Professional Conduct

Before applying for membership, we ask that you read and fully understand the ITI Code of Professional Conduct. You will be required to sign this document when you send us your completed membership application pack. Members of the Institute must adhere to the ITI’s Code of Professional Conduct and act in accordance with the high standards appropriate to membership of a professional body.
