Professional Interpreters for Justice Seminar

Organised by Professional Interpreters for Justice - “Justice Interpreting: the need for quality standards”

Date: Saturday 23 February 2013, at 11.00 to 15.00

Location: The Friends House, 173 Euston Road, London NW1, nearest tube = Euston or Euston Square (Venue changed due to over-subscription)

Cost: A contribution of £10 for the venue, refreshments and speaker costs. Please bring your own lunch.

Speakers will include: Liese Katschinka, President of EULITA and Hilary Maxwell-Hyslop of IOLET, Alex Tinsley, Fair Trials International, Penny Arbuthnot, Involvis PR and Press advisor, with members of PI4J’s Steering Committee.

The campaign group Professional Interpreters for Justice (PI4J) is talking with the government with the intention of persuading them of the merits of developing a viable alternative to the Framework Agreement and is in active discussion on these issues. There has never been a more important time to discuss Quality, and this seminar is the opportunity for you to contribute to the debate or update yourself with information on developments.

Attendance is welcome from all RPSIs.

A full programme will be published shortly, but for the moment we can say that there will be a report on progress of the PI4J campaign, including meetings with the Minister and the Ministry of Justice. There will also be a presentation of the findings from the shortly to be announced online opinion survey of RPSIs, which will be made by Mrs Penny Arbuthnot, Director of Involvis.
