ITI Prize Winners 2013

Prizes for excellence in service to the profession, outstanding performance in the ITI exam and best translation company were awarded at the ITI Conference Dinner.

John Sykes Memorial Prize for Excellence

The John Sykes Prize has been awarded posthumously to Sue Young FITI. Sue was a long-standing member of the Institute who contributed a great deal of time and energy to helping other members, especially new translators. As a tutor on ITI's online business skills course, she helped guide new freelancers towards a specialisation that would allow them to establish a niche in the industry. Sue's prize was collected on behalf of her family by a college friend, Hilary Stang.

John Hayes Award

The John Hayes Award is made to the person who achieves best result in ITI's MITI Examination during the past membership year. In 2013 it was given to Siobhan Gorrie, for a translation from German into English.

Best Translation Company

For the third time in a row, ITI's members have chosen Wessex Translations as the recipient of the ITI Best Translation Company prize. The prize was awarded at the 2013 Conference and is given to the most popular ITI Corporate Member after a ballot of ITI's individual members. Wessex Translations' Jonathan Nater and Hannah Chase attended the Conference Dinner to receive the award.
