ITI is delighted that the University of Leeds has agreed to co-host this year’s Translation Workshop. In response to popular demand, this year’s event will be on a Saturday.

The Annual Translation Workshop is always well attended and is widely acknowledged as an enjoyable and valuable learning opportunity for all experience levels. Participants have the opportunity to meet in different language groups to discuss & translate texts. As well as making your own contributions, you will be able to learn from the skills and experience of other translators. Ambiguities and linguistic points can be debated within the groups before a general plenary discussion rounds off the event.

The workshop will comprise:

• Practical translation in language groups
• A choice of texts
• An informal and cooperative ambience

Texts will be available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and other languages depending on demand. Subjects will range from legal, technical and popular press material to light-hearted material. You can change language group during the course of the day.

The Workshop will be held at the main city campus of the University of Leeds on Saturday, 16 October 2010, from 9.30am to 5.00pm. The fee will be £45 for members and £58 for non members of ITI inclusive of 17.5% VAT and will include handouts, lunch and refreshments.
