Dual French/English Contracts Workshop

Thursday 30 November 2017, 09:30 - 16:30
professionaldevelopment@iti.org.uk

Contract translation is one of the most common areas of translation work for legal translators. With important matters such as rights, obligations and liability at stake, it is essential to be accurate and precise when it comes to contract translation.

This workshop - aimed at both established and aspiring legal translators working from French into English and English into French – will boost your knowledge about French and English contracts and improve your translation skills in this field.

During the morning session, you will:

  • Learn the key differences between French and English contracts
  • Compare typical clauses that appear in both French and English contracts
  • Improve the clarity of your writing
  • Discover tips that will make your contract translations stand out

In the afternoon, attendees will split into language groups and work on a variety of contract texts, discussing the key translation issues typically arising in contracts and exploring different strategies to overcome these problems.
