Scottish Network: Translating children’s literature
“The joy of falling down a rabbit hole – translating Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland into Spanish” and “Son of a sea bass – pseudo-profanities and other challenges in translating the work of Maria Parr”
This event provides a glimpse into the fascinating world of children’s literature in translation. Two experts in this area of translation will share their experience with us. First, Gemma Alonso will talk about her work on translating Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland into Spanish, including its many puns and playful elements. Our second speaker, Guy Puzey, will discuss how he approached pseudo-profanities and other challenges in Norwegian children’s books. Each talk will be followed by a short Q&A session.
