She specialises in marketing and business texts and excels in the translation of relatively small pieces that require a dash of creativity and close attention to style. A passionate member of ITI, Fiona is the Coordinator of the ITI East Anglia Network, the Marketing Tutor on the ITI’s Setting Up as a Freelance Translator Course and a member of the Membership Committee.

Biography

Susie Jackson is a Spanish-to-English translator and copy editor specialising in academic texts for the social sciences. She also mentors freelancers on pricing to help them figure out how much they should be charging and how to raise their rates with clients so that they can earn a decent living doing what they love.

Katharina Wawrzon-Stewart MITI

Katharina Wawrzon-Stewart (or simply Kasia) is a London-based conference and public service interpreter, and translator. Her language combination is German (A), Polish (A) and English (B). She was born in Poland, grew up in Germany and has been living, studying, and working in the UK since 1995. Her main areas of expertise in conference interpreting are migration and asylum, political affairs, business, medicine, and European Works Councils. Sarah Bowyer

Sarah Bowyer is a legal and sports translator working from French and Spanish into English under the name Crossbow Translations. Following a degree in Modern Languages from Cambridge University, she practised as a solicitor at large, international law firms for almost ten years before changing career. She is passionate about promoting collaboration and connections within the translation profession and is the Business Mentoring Coordinator of the ITI French Network and Membership Secretary of the North West Translators' Network. Her work was recently recognised with the ITI Best Newcomer (Freelancing) Award in 2020.

Rik Grant

With more than 15 years in the industry, Rik possesses an in-depth understanding of the machinery of global advertising, adaptation, amplification & strategy for the world’s biggest brands. After graduating with a degree in Japanese he first cut his teeth in a specialist Asian-language translation agency before moving to the Tag group in 2011. Since then he has expanded his knowledge of cross-media production and creative strategy and works to help brands realise their full potential, irrespective of linguistic or cultural boundaries. Rik has worked across every media discipline and sector with clients including Facebook, P&G, Amazon, Reckitt Benckiser, Adyen, Arla Foods, Coca-Cola, DHL, Heineken and Toyota. Nicola Callow

Senior Project Manager, Surrey Translation Bureau,

Nicola Callow is a Senior Project Manager at Surrey Translation Bureau, which is based in Farnham, Surrey. Over the past 10 years, she has held a variety of roles at a number of different LSPs including a small market research translation agency and a large multinational transcreation agency. Her current role at STB focuses on medical clients, desktop publishing projects in InDesign, as well as complex quotes and workflows. Nicola holds a BA in French and Spanish, and an MA in Translation and Interpreting. She is currently learning Irish via the Duolingo app.

Cécile Pasquet

Founder and Managing Director, JustRightSubs

Cécile Pasquet has 15 years of professional experience in the translation and subtitling industry. She started as an English to French translator/reviewer (both in-house and as a freelancer), working for clients in the automotive/IT/technical industries. She then trained intensively and specialized in subtitling. She recently set up her very own subtitling agency called JustRightSubs, based in Leicester, and she leads a network of expert subtitlers providing high-quality, beautifully presented subtitles.

Lynn Everson

As a professional linguist (MITI – French, MCIL - Spanish) with a Masters in Translation and trained as an Interpreter at the universities of Bath, Caen and Granada, Lynn founded Lifeline initially as a telephone interpreting service for international hauliers.

Today, the company has offices in Preston and France, offering F2F and remote interpreting plus translation, transcription, proof-reading, typesetting, subtitling and voice-over.  Lynn remains fully involved in project management and staff mentoring, using her languages on a daily basis in customer relationship management and strategic decision-making.

Mariana Haladj-Asminian

Mariana was born and grew up in Argentina, in a family of Armenian heritage.  She holds a BA in Armenian Philology from the State University of Yerevan, Armenia. She is a qualified Spanish and Armenian interpreter who started her interpreting career in 2000, mostly in the medical field and in 2002 she qualified as a legal interpreter having passed the DPSI Law exam and the Metropolitan Police Test.  She is on the NRPSI and her current workload is mainly in legal interpreting (the Metropolitan Police, Crown Prosecution Service, National Crime Agency, Serious Fraud Office).   She also interprets in conferences.  Mariana has been teaching languages and interpreting since 2003 on the DPSI and DPI (former Met Test) preparatory courses in various institutions, including here at the University of Westminster Master's programme. Mariana holds a PGCE in Lifelong Learning, qualifying her to teach adults.

Cecilia Lipovsek AITI

Cecilia Lipovsek is a London-based diplomatic interpreter and owner of MULTILATERAL, where she provides international communication support to British and Latin American governments, businesses, and professionals.

Born in Buenos Aires, Cecilia has lived and worked on both sides of the Atlantic and, over the last decade, has interpreted for heads of state, ministers, governors, CEO’s, activists, writers, royalty, Nobel Prize winners, museum curators, and countless experts.
