The ITI Awards - why enter

Written by Catherine Park

Catherine Park, ITI Awards Chairrman, introduces the 2018 competition and discusses why it's important to celebrate excellence.

We’ve just launched the ITI Awards 2018 and are now inviting entries; after a great first year, with some truly inspiring winners, I can’t wait to see what this year’s programme brings.

Should you find yourself looking at the entry pack over the next couple of months and debating whether to take part or not, here are a few reasons to enter.

Practitioners from this sector are not renowned for pushing themselves into the spotlight. This is a rare opportunity to gain well-deserved recognition for excellent work. And there’s nothing wrong with that. In turn, winning an ITI award is concrete evidence of achievement for current and potential clients or employers. You can use the award winner’s logo on your website, social media pages and other channels.

Do remember that, in addition to entering for yourself, you can also nominate someone else whose work you have experienced as a client, employer, tutor, colleague or peer. So, it’s an opportunity for you to show your appreciation of someone else’s work and help their career in a variety of ways, such as giving then increased motivation and confidence, and greater visibility in the sector.

An important role of the Institute is to promote high standards and professionalism. What excellent performance looks like evolves over time.  Client expectations and needs change, as do the impact of technology and a whole range of external factors. The winners of our awards demonstrate high-level performance in today’s environment – something to admire, inspire and set an example. ITI will regularly cover winners’ stories – providing useful learning points for ongoing development.

So, award entries can help to develop knowledge across the sector too.

You can access the entry pack here. The deadline for entry is 31 January 2018. Most of the award classes are open to members only, but the Academic research and Innovation classes are also open to non-members.

Look out for more blogs over the next few months looking at different aspects of the awards.
