Patricia Crampton obituary

An obituary in the Guardian has highlighted the achievements of translator Patricia Crampton, who has died aged 90.

In her early career she worked at the Nuremberg trials, and later became an award-winning translator with a talent for making some of the best European children’s literature come alive for English readers.

She campaigned for better recognition and remuneration of translators, and chaired the Translators Guild of the Institute of Linguistics, helping to transform it into ITI.
