Brexit agreement - EU citizens during transition period

The UK and EU have agreed on a ‘large part’ of the agreement that will lead to the ‘orderly withdrawal’ of the UK, and this includes the position of EU citizens during the transition period.

The transition period will last from 29 March 2019 to 31 December 2020.

EU citizens arriving in the UK between these dates will have the same rights and guarantees as those who arrive before Brexit. The same will apply to UK citizens on the continent.

However, it should be noted that the transitional agreement is conditional on both sides agreeing a final withdrawal treaty.
