ITI Award winners announced

The best in the translation and interpreting sector was celebrated at ITI’s ‘One Day in…’ event on 16 June with the announcement of the winners of the Institute’s awards programme.

Chris Durban was the recipient of The John Sykes Memorial Prize for Excellence, which recognises outstanding contribution to the world of translation and interpreting over a long period.

In addition to her over 40 years’ translation experience, Chris has written client education materials including Translation, Getting it Right (now available in 19 languages) and its companion piece Interpreting, Getting it Right. She also co-authored the Fire Ant & Worker Bee advice column in Translation Journal (online) and, in April 2014, contributed to 101 Things a Translator Needs to Know.

She is co-organiser of SFT’s biennial summer school for financial translators, and an instructor on the ‘Translate in…’ seminars for Eng<>Fr translators. She is also a popular speaker at events organised by translator associations and other professional groups,

Chris is a member of SFT and a Fellow of ITI.
