1. What is the Law, Insurance & Finance Translation Network?

The LIFT (Law, Insurance and Finance Translation) Network is a group of ITI translators and interpreters who have or are seeking to gain experience and expertise in the fields of Law, Insurance and Finance. It is run by volunteers and currently has nearly 200 members.

2. What can the LIFT Network do for you?

  • Contacts / e-group: The Network brings you into contact with other people who share your professional interests and concerns and who are never more than a phone call or an e-mail away.
  • Publications: The LIFT Internal Database, which is updated regularly, is available only to the members for internal use. All FITIs and MITIs are included in the searchable LIFT Website Directory.

3. What can you do for the LIFT Network?

Get involved: Take part in workshops and other events organised by the Network.

Contribute: Suggest an idea for a workshop or meeting.

Be supportive: Try to help other members of the Network when you can, especially newcomers.

The LIFT web pages contain the names of translators and interpreters who are qualified members of ITI and who belong to the Law, Insurance & Finance Translation Network.

Use the Search Directory facility to find a translator/interpreter with the language combination and specialisation you require.

Members of the Law, Insurance & Finance Translation Network are highly qualified people with a wealth of experience. Below is a guide to some of the abbreviations used to describe their qualifications:

Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer, a German professional body of translators and interpreters
Société française des traducteurs, the equivalent French body
Nederlands Genootschap van Tolken en Vertalers, the Dutch association of translators and interpreter
Asociación Española de Traductores, Correctores e Intérpretes, the equivalent Spanish body
