ITI has delivered a variety of workshops over the years, covering different areas of specialism, from ‘High Level Writing with Style’ to a dual French/English Litigation workshop. The breadth of subjects offered by ITI aims to provide something for everyone, with opportunities for you to deepen your knowledge of a particular specialism or to widen your skills set by studying a new subject.

Setting Up as a Freelance Translator (SUFT): Designed specifically for graduates or new entrants to the profession with little or no business experience, Setting Up as a Freelance Translator offers direct access to eight practising translators who have successfully launched their own freelance careers. Over more than 20 hours of webinars and individual sessions, you will learn how to develop a freelance translation business and gain an understanding of how the translation market operates.

Advancing your Freelance Translation Career (AFT): Aimed at translators who have been freelancing for some time and want to focus on finding premium work with high-quality agencies and direct clients. Discover how to identify your differences to give you a competitive advantage. Define your ideal client base and learn how to fine tune your sales techniques. Uncover new ways to build and maintain customer relationships. Having learnt the theory from the experts, you will then go on to test your ability in a live situation, being given the opportunity to pitch yourself directly to an actual client.



Starting Work as a Translator or Interpreter (SWATI)

Do you want to work as a translator or interpreter but are unsure where to start? Are you already working in the field but want to broaden your client base or add to your skills? This popular, free one-day event covers topics such as generalist or specialist translating and different types of interpreting, working with translation companies, working for the EU, pricing, and breaking through the 'no experience – no work' barrier. It also offers plentiful opportunities for networking and asking questions of experienced professionals. The SWATI seminar is held twice a year in different parts of the country.
