Kari Koonin has over 25 years’ experience as a freelance and in-house Dutch, German and Afrikaans to English translator specialising in horticulture, agriculture and food. Kari is a Fellow of the ITI and Chair of the ITI Professional Development Committee and gives frequent talks, workshops and webinars on a range of translation-related subjects, including at the ITI’s SWATI event, the London Language Show and various universities. She has also taught German to English translation on the University of Westminster MA in Translation Studies.

Kari lives in London and when she is not translating, she is an active member of her local community garden and works on her allotment and is currently studying for a Royal Horticultural Society qualification in the Principles of Horticulture as part of her subject-related CPD.

 

Kirsty Heimerl-Moggan has worked as an international conference, business and legal interpreter since 1994. Currently based in Manchester (UK) (having spent part of her career in Munich, Germany) her interpreting experience encompasses G8 and EU meetings, international prime ministerial meetings and high-level business meetings as well as commercial legal and criminal court cases to name but a few.

She is a senior lecturer and course leader for the MA in Conference Interpreting at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Kirsty has also lectured in conference interpreting at Munich University of Applied Languages, Leeds University and Salford University.

Kirsty is a director of All About Languages Ltd. and head trainer at Interp-Right Training Consultancy. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL), Chartered Interpreter/Educator and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also a member of the German Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD) and the German Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ).
