We all know that sometimes things don’t always go to plan, no matter how diligent you are. And don’t forget that when it comes to professional conduct, you don’t actually have to have done anything wrong – all it takes is for someone to allege that you have and you’d be in a position where you need to defend yourself, which can be costly. Between needing legal advice, funding expensive legal fees and potentially having to pay substantial damages; not to mention the inevitable stress and anxiety this process can cause, it’s important that you have sufficient protection should the worst happen. You can remove the worry and costs of litigation – discover how Professional Liability insurance can benefit you as a translator and/or interpreter.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the difference between Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Legal Expenses insurance, and what each protects you for
  • Understand what cover is needed for GDPR related risks
  • Understand the types of claims faced by translators and interpreters, and how an insurance policy responds

Speaker Haydn Dodds-Jones

My career began with Towergate in 2013 where I started out as a Retention Advisor, giving insurance support and advice to just over 30,000 clients whose professions ranged from Interpreters and Translators all the way to Counsellors and Business Consultants. From there, my knowledge of the products we offer and the sectors we service grew immensely which helped me to assess my client's demands and needs in order to make suitable recommendations on the cover they require. I was then appointed as Team Captain for our Retention Team in 2015, was responsible for the technical training for new starters along with being a central point of contact for referrals to our insurers. Subsequent to my role as Team Captain, I was appointed as Sales Manager for our New Business Team, my responsibilities now are to ensure that my team are carrying out adequate assessments of new clients demands and needs to identify what our clients need to protect their civil liabilities alongside managing the team day to day.
