Track 2 - Interpreters’ role when it really matters (the profession in times of Covid)

45 mins Key note speaker

By doing their job under new, and sometimes dangerous circumstances, our colleagues have kept the world accessible, informed, healthy, and safe during the last year. Healthcare, education, administration of justice, electronic media, government actions, and international agreements are some of the fields where interpreters have excelled and supported from behind the scenes, and occasionally in very visible roles, the human fight against Covid-19.

Throughout history, interpreters have played a key role behind the scenes, often making reality the seemingly impossible. Our work would be inconceivable without adaptability, flexibility, or resilience. All necessary traits during these trying times. As ITI interpreters gather once again at this conference, determined to better themselves as professionals, let’s celebrate the goodness in the services we provide, and the human qualities of those who practice it.
