This year, ITI turns 40. Four decades is a milestone worth marking, but an anniversary is as much about what comes next as what has gone before. The questions facing translators and interpreters today – the role of AI, sustained economic pressure and the changing nature of client relationships – are real, and they are not always comfortable. What has stayed constant across 40 years is the value of working through the challenges together, as the ITI community.

We'd like to make our community the centre of this anniversary: not a single story, but the many stories that have made up four decades of our institute.

 40 Under 40

We are pleased to share that as part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we are launching a project called ‘40 Under 40’.

The aim of the project is to showcase 40 members under the age of 40 who are making a success of their careers in the translation and/or interpreting professions. Successful applicants will feature in the winter edition of the ITI Insight magazine, along with their profile and biography. There will be a prize for members who are considered ‘top 3’ by our panel, and they will have an extended interview in the magazine.

Members can apply or nominate other members to feature via the form below. All applications will be reviewed by our experienced panel of ITI Fellows: Katie Belo Dos Santos (Chair), Kim Sanderson and Andrew Godfrey-Collins.

Members should consider the following criteria when applying or nominating others:

  • Professional Excellence
  • Professional Contribution / Innovation and Development
  • Outstanding Achievements (such as teaching, training, publication records, awards and accolades)
  • Raising the Industry Profile / Promoting the Profession (such as organising courses/workshops/CPD/events/conferences, speakers, radio programmes, blogs, videos, social media)

If you think you fit into these criteria, or know someone who does, we encourage you to apply or nominate via the form below.

Please briefly outline how you/the nominated person meet the criteria listed below
