ITI Awards
The ITI Awards awards recognise the achievements of translators and interpreters. The awards showcase strong knowledge and skills, best practice, business know-how and excellent client relationships, as well as new ways of doing things, and significant contributions to the profession.
Awards were made in the following categories in 2026.
John Sykes Memorial Prize for Excellence
Presented for outstanding achievement in translation or interpreting over a long period, the winner is selected by the current and recent Chairs of the Institute.
In 2026, the prize was awarded to The Association of Translation Companies (ATC).
ATC, which is also marking its 50th anniversary this year, is a trade association representing the interests of language service companies in the UK and internationally. It is the leading voice for companies operating in the UK’s language services industry.
ATC Chief Executive Officer, Raisa McNab, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the John Sykes Memorial Prize for Excellence. Over the years, we have built a relationship between our two associations based on constructive dialogue, and our collaboration has extended from knowledge exchange to advocacy on themes where our objectives converge. On behalf of the ATC community, I want to thank the ITI’s Chairs past and present for what is a truly meaningful award.”

Outstanding contribution to ITI award
Newly introduced in 2025, the Outstanding contribution to ITI award is presented annually to an ITI member who has, over a long and sustained period of time, voluntarily contributed with integrity to the work of the Institute.
In her presentation speech Fiona Gray, ITI Chair, said: "As Chair of ITI’s Membership Committee for the past 12 years, Cate has played an instrumental role in improving the acquisition, engagement and retention of members of ITI. This award recognises Cate’s outstanding commitment to the Institute throughout her long career, her admirable integrity, and her hard work to ensure committee effectiveness, diverse representation of the membership, and decisions always made fairly in the best interests of the ITI community."
