Start your journey towards becoming a professional translator or interpreter and join ITI as a Student member.
Student membership is your first step along ITI's Career pathway and we are here to support you every step of the way as you develop in your career. By progressing along the pathway as your skills and experience develop, you will gain recognition from the industry and your colleagues, giving you the confidence to value and be rewarded for your achievements.
Membership enables you to explore the opportunities available within the industry, network with, and learn from, experienced professionals and it also enhances your CV. You might be a 'straight from school' student or a mature student looking to change careers.

How do I apply?
Entry requirements
Minimum age 18.
We can offer 12-month Student to anyone:
- Currently studying for an under or postgraduate degree in any subject with a minimum value of 180 credits in the UK or 90 ECTS in the EU or equivalent
We can offer 6-month Student to anyone:
- Enrolled to take the DipTrans/CertTrans/DPSI or equivalent qualification within the next 6 months
- Enrolled for a Level 3 or above translation or interpreting qualification such as the Certificate in Community interpreting
If you are studying for a translation or interpreting qualification that falls outside these criteria but would like to join as a Student member please contact the Membership team for further advice at [email protected].
Membership fees
The 12-month Student membership fee is £49. 6-month Student membership fee is £24.50.
No application or assessment fees.
