Bylaws

The Bylaws of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting can be downloaded below.

The Bylaws should be read in conjunction with the Articles of Association.

The most recent amendments were approved by the Board on 12 August 2026. The amendments were needed in order to reflect changes to the policies relating to Retired and Honorary members.

In accordance with good governance practice we also took the opportunity to carry out a full review of the Bylaws. This highlighted a number of areas where there was duplication or the potential for confusion, or where information could be more usefully included in other relevant policies e.g. the membership terms and conditions. The provisions relating to ITI Networks were also removed, as the relationship between ITI and ITI Networks will be set out in a Memoradum of Understanding in the future.
