Mrs Hiba Bayyat MITI

A native bilingual and bicultural English–Arabic linguist, I bring over a decade of experience delivering accurate, nuanced and culturally informed communication across diverse professional settings. I am a CIOL Chartered Linguist, DPSI (English Law) qualified and NRPSI-registered Public Service Interpreter, ISO-qualified translator and transcreator, and hold an MA in Translation.

Translation and transcreation work spans legal, public service, marketing and creative content, with a particular focus on cross-cultural adaptation for Arabic-speaking audiences. The creative dimension of this work is reflected in an MA dissertation awarded a distinction, examining the Arabic translation of humour and wordplay in children's literature and the challenges of preserving meaning, voice and effect across languages.

Having previously worked as an accredited Immigration and Asylum Caseworker, I bring an understanding of immigration law, legal procedures and advocacy to legal interpreting and translation assignments. This experience continues to inform work in courts, tribunals and complex legal settings, alongside a longstanding commitment to access to justice and ethical communication.

Education and professional development form another important part of this practice. As a qualified trainer and assessor, I deliver training and assessment for interpreters and translators, alongside holding CELTA and TEFL qualifications in English language teaching.

Beyond linguistics, my interests extend to psychology, neuroscience, neurodivergence and cognitive diversity. As a certified ADHD and Advanced AuDHD coach and neuroaffirmative supervisor, I support neurodivergent adults through personalised, evidence-informed approaches. This work encompasses executive functioning, emotional regulation and sustainable ways of working and living, complemented by ongoing MSc studies in Applied Neuroscience.

These professional interests converge in Words, Worlds & Wiring, a multidisciplinary initiative I created to bring together podcasting, coaching, neuroaffirmative supervision, training and education. Exploring the intersections of language, culture, cognition, neuroscience and human experience, it draws on research, professional knowledge and lived experience to make complex ideas accessible, encourage curiosity and different perspectives, and support more inclusive, sustainable ways of working and living.
