The RussNet Book Club is back with its first Russian-language meeting of 2026, to be held online on Friday, 27th March from 4 – 5 pm (GMT).
Welcome to all members and non-members, this session will explore Vladimir Nabokov’s beautiful short story "Весна в Фиальте" ("Spring in Fialta"), a bittersweet story about memory, missed love and the role of chance in people’s lives.
At just around 11 pages, the story is short yet atmospheric, making it an ideal read for anyone interested in exploring a classic in Russian, including non-native speakers!
What to expect:
· Discussion of Nabokov’s poetic language and rich imagery
· Reflections on memory, fate, lost love
· Nabokov’s blend of melancholy and irony that shapes the story
· How the character’s memories reveal the shifting nature of love, chance and nostalgia
The Russian Network invites everyone to deepen their interest in Russian literature in a friendly, engaging environment. This event is all about your thoughts, your questions, and your curiosity!
Whether you're a long-time reader or just starting your journey with Russian literature, all levels are genuinely welcome.
