The first walk of 2023 is based on the Worcestershire town of Alvechurch. Alvechurch has a historic market with good road and rail (and canal) connections to both Birmingham and Worcester. The creator of The Archers was born in the town and the surrounding countryside was the inspiration for his fictional Borsetshire.
The walk is a 6-mile circular route on undulating countryside, following a canal towpath, public footpaths and quiet country roads. There are 7 stiles (a couple of which are not on level ground), and the route can be muddy in parts. Please note too, that we must traverse some fields with livestock, which may have some ‘live’ fencing in place, and which we will have to negotiate carefully.
Please aim to arrive between 10:30 and 10:45, ready to depart at 11:00
