Since starting to work as a professional translator almost 20 years ago, I have progressed from working on general texts from Spanish and Portuguese into English to refining three specialisms: Oenology, Environment & Sustainability, and International Development.
Recent CPD includes WSET Level 3 exam, in addition to as many subject-relevant online webinars and workshops, in-person trade fairs, conferences and networking events as possible.
I give feedback on translations to students undertaking the cIOL Diploma in Translation, the MA at the University of Birmingham, and the ITI Spanish Network's Mentoring Scheme.
I form part of a fortnightly revision club with two other colleagues. We revise previous translations, offer each other advice on improvements, and hold regular translation slams.
Within the ITI, I am a member of the Spanish Network, the Portuguese Network, the Medical & Pharmaceutical Network, the Food & Drink Network and the SHEA Network.
