40 years' translation experience in all, as:
(a) translator, radio reporter and producer for the BBC Monitoring Service, the BBC Overseas Services, Radio 4 News and Current Affairs and BBC Greek Service, (in English, French, Greek, Danish, 0ct. 1973 - Dec. 1982)
(b) full-time official in the translation services of the European Parliament in Luxembourg and the European Commission in Brussels (French, Greek, Danish, Portuguese, some Spanish, German), including 3 years' secondment to DG Translation's Information and Communication Unit as writer and lecturer on EU language policy and 18 months' posting as Head of Translation Field Office in EU Delegation, Warsaw, (in all, Jan. 1983- Mar. 2006),
(c) self-employed freelance translator / proofreader / reviser working in London for private clients, translation companies, EU institutions, universities, lawyers, businesses, official bodies, the media and authors (Greek, French, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Portuguese) (April 2006 to date).
Qualifications: MA of Cambridge University in Modern Greek, Postgraduate study at Athens University. In-service language (Portuguese, Swedish) and subject-related training courses in EU institutions. ITI-assessed Member (MITI) qualified to certify translations from Greek to English for official use.
Long periods living and studying in Cyprus and Greece and working in Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Poland.
Other experience: External examiner for MA in Translation, University of Bath (2010-2014). Postgraduate qualification in acting from The Actors' Company, London Centre for Theatre Studies (2006-7). Part-time self-employed actor for stage, TV, commercials and film, based in London (2007 - 2019).
