Mrs Manal Nakli MITI

Arabic translator and social media Manager in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), London since 2004 as freelance then in-house since 2015. My work with the FCDO also includes translations for Ministry of Defence (MoD), Home Office, Department for Business & Trade, Department for Transport and other Government departments as well as private sector companies, including BAE Systems, and NGOs. 1991-2003 I was Press & Public Affairs Officer, British Embassy Kuwait, providing media, translation and interpreting support to HM Ambassador and visiting UK Ministers.

My work includes, but not limited to, translation into Arabic of documents, reports, strategies and website content. Examples of my work include all documents and web content for COP26; documents related to UK-hosted summits, UK agreements with other countries; UK candidature to international bodies; UK International Women & Girls Strategy; UK Cyber Security Strategy; presentations for training courses; MoD Defence White Paper; MoD Strategic Defence Review.

In addition to translation, I do video transcription and video subtitling.

I was awarded MBE in New Year Diplomatic Service and Overseas Honours List January 2014 for services in promoting understanding between Britain and the Arab World through my translation.
