Ms Sarah Pybus MITI

I have been working in the translation industry since 2007, first as an in-house translator in Germany and the UK and then as a freelance translator. My subject areas are tourism/leisure, media/entertainment, higher education, social sciences, environment and literature.

I have translated 6 non-fiction books: 'Climate Injustice' by Friederike Otto (Greystone Books, 2025), 'The Greatest Polar Expedition of All Time' by Markus Rex (Greystone Books, 2022), 'Chemistry for Breakfast' by Dr Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim (Greystone Books, 2021), 'Angry Weather' by Friederike Otto (Greystone Books, 2020), 'Authors and Apparatus' by Monika Dommann (Cornell University Press, 2019) and 'Crossing the Sea' by Wolfgang Bauer (And Other Stories, 2016). I have also translated texts for several photography books.

I was the winner of the inaugural GINT NonFiction Translation Competition (2015) and shortlisted for the 2025 Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing (for 'Climate Injustice'). Over the years I have also participated in events such as a non-fiction translation slam at the Goethe Institute in London (2015) and a 'Translation Encounters' event at the University of Nottingham (2017).

My interests include dancing, cinema, literature, travel, yoga, swimming and hiking.
