Cultural institutes in the UK

Most of the organisations listed below run language courses, host cultural events, hold libraries, and welcome non-members to public programmes.

Where an organisation has no dedicated UK institute, the relevant embassy cultural section or bilateral society is listed instead. This list is not exhaustive, and will be updated as new organisations come to light.

Coverage is strongest for European languages, where dedicated public cultural institutes are the norm; for other language communities, the relevant body is more often an embassy cultural section, a university-hosted institute, or a bilateral society. Several organisations have recently changed name or structure, so it is worth checking before contacting them. If you know of a well-established institute for a language pairing not covered here, please let us know so it can be added.
