From Mezze to Mansaf: How food translates culture beyond words

Food is a language we all speak, yet rarely analyse. Like language, it encodes meaning through structure, context, and use. Ingredients function as vocabulary, techniques as grammar, and meals as social acts.
Dana Szabados will take you from the mezze tables of Lebanon to Syria’s food of memory, Jordan’s communal mansaf, Algeria’s layered culinary identity, Mauritania’s ritualised simplicity, and Saudi Arabia’s evolving traditions. This webinar draws on her personal travel experiences, using food as a lens through which to explore identity, memory, hospitality and change.
