Navigating the Care System: Exploring your options as a caregiver

Come and join us on Zoom on Wednesday, 3rd December at 2pm for a midweek chat all about the care system. No need to register!

Our event, Navigating the Care System: Exploring Your Options as a Caregiver, brings together two inspiring guest speakers who will share the valuable services they offer to support caregivers on their journey.

If time allows, we’ll also hear from one of our members, Catherine Lumber, who will reflect on her journey through the process of securing a nursing home for her mum.
Whether you are new to caregiving or have years of experience, this conversation will offer valuable perspectives and a chance to connect with others in similar roles.
We’d love to see you there. Our speakers are kindly giving up their time for free. Please come along and support this event if you are able. Don't worry if you can't stay for the full event.

Meet our speakers
Sherry King
Sherry King is Director of Sandwich Generation Support, where she raises awareness and helps organisations better support employees balancing work with caring for parents or elderly relatives. She also works directly with individuals through coaching, offering practical and emotional support to those managing caring responsibilities alongside busy professional lives.
With over 21 years of senior leadership experience in the NHS – working nationally, regionally and locally – Sherry has led teams, shaped national policy and supported people through change. She’s also a qualified coach of more than 13 years, passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges.
In 2019, Sherry’s mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. While caring for her parents, working full-time and raising three children, she experienced first-hand the pressures faced by so many in the “Sandwich Generation”. After her mum sadly passed away at the end of 2022, Sherry was inspired to help others in similar situations.
Her work has recently featured on BBC Breakfast, BBC Look North, BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Sheffield. Her services are also highly recommended by clients and included in the NHS social prescribing register in a number of areas across the country.

Jude Pinder
Jude Pinder is Chief Operating Officer of The Filo Project, an award-winning not-for-profit organisation which provides small group care days for people with early to moderate dementia and other challenges of older age; stroke, Parkinson's and sensory loss. The organisation operates in Devon, Somerset, Cornwall, East Lancashire, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and delights in providing a warm, welcoming and familiar place where friendships are made and social isolation diminished.
Within the nurturing environment of The Filo Project, the focus is firmly on individuals' capacities. Clients flourish, many experiencing positive changes in their symptoms and well-being. Families are also able to enjoy regular and extended respite.
Jude Pinder will be able to talk through The Filo Project model but also share wider insights into how social connection and activity really can have significant benefits for individuals experiencing cognitive impairment.
