| Russian Conversation Meet-up: International Mother Language Day The Russian Network cordially invites all members and anyone else who is interested to its first free Russian-language meet-up for 2026, to be held online on Saturday 21 February. This special session will be dedicated to International Mother Language Day – celebrating linguistic diversity, identity, and the languages that shape us all. This meeting is open to native and non-native speakers of Russian. All levels are welcome. Mistakes are also welcome – communication matters more than perfection. (And just listening is also permitted!) Please join the Network’s regular host, Natalia Karlina, who will guide the discussion, exploring questions such as: • What does “mother tongue” really mean? • Which language do you think, dream, or express emotions in? • How does language influence identity and culture? • What is unique, beautiful, or challenging about the Russian language? • Are there words in your language that cannot be translated? You’ll have a chance to share personal stories, compare languages, and hear different perspectives – in a relaxed, supportive environment. Come speak, listen, learn – and celebrate the languages that connect us all. Please note that this session is trialling a new day and time, in the hope that people in other time zones may be able to join. The Russian Network is looking forward to seeing everyone! RSPV by emailing Natalia, who will send a list of prompts and ideas to those who register, followed by a reminder and the Zoom link nearer the time. |
