With a PhD in Modern Welsh and Irish, and almost 40 years professional experience, David is one of the leading freelance Welsh translators. He was head of translation at the Welsh Office and deputy head of translation at the National Assembly for Wales. His clients now include Welsh government departments, UK government departments, local authorities, higher education institutions and translation agencies. David is a full member of Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru (the association of Welsh translators and interpreters), with approved status in Professional Field of Expertise: Legislative Translation, a former chief examiner for its Examination Board and current chair of its Membership and Professional Standards Committee. David has contributed to professional translation studies at Aberystwyth and Cardiff Universities. He was external examiner for the Certificate in Translation, Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities 2008-2012.
