Mrs Juliet Hammond-Smith MITI

I grew up in Italy, so have an in-depth comprehension of Italian culture, education, literature, history and social customs. After school, I studied Computational Science at St Andrews, Scotland, then returning to Genoa where I worked for a small multinational company for 16 years. I moved to the UK in 1995 and started out as a freelance translator in 2009, joining ITI immediately.
I am married to Bryan, and we have a business partnership; he is a chartered accountant, so I can run accounting terms and concept past him and he also acts as my proof-reader; I have two daughters, Eleonora, who is half Italian, studied French and works at Oxford University, and Elisabeth, who studied Engineering and is part of the research team at JCB, and she checks my engineering terminology.
My work involves academic papers, accreditation documentation and courses material for Italian universities and business schools; I also work for the foundation, startup accelerator and digital observatories linked to a university, often on digital innovation topics, and for several museums. I also enjoy wine and food translations (I qualified as a sommelier) and the arts.
