Mr Graham Cross FITI
Graham Cross is a freelance technical and legal translator working from the Latin languages to English, based in Portugal. After a childhood spent partly in Portugal and France and after studying chemistry he worked in a research library in the petrochemicals industry for 13 years doing translations from time to time before going full-time freelance in 1979.
Since then he has worked for a wide range of customers in the public and private sectors. Apart from his oil and chemical industry experience he has a wide experience of translation consonant with his range of interests (including subjects as disparate as marine biology and mediaeval ordnance).
He was chairman of the North West Translators Network from 1991 to 1996 and chairman of the ITI from 1996 to 2000. He is still coordinator of the ITI Portuguese Network and has an ongoing interest in continuing professional development and other topics of relevance to the industry.
He has a BA degree in Biology/Geology, an MSc in Ecology and also holds an RYA yachtmaster offshore qualification.
