My background is in process engineering and chemical analysis, but I now cover a wide range of technical subjects such as construction, surveying, heavy transport/lifting and aviation.

These days I write as much as I translate, for example marketing copy for brochures and corporate magazines. I particularly enjoy writing training materials (uncrewed aviation, heavy lifting, etc.) and working in a team with engineers and technicians.

I am a member or associate member of various professional bodies such as the Institution of Chemical Engineers, SENSE (English-language professionals in the Netherlands), Association of British Theatre Technicians and the VPT, their Dutch sister organisation. To keep me in touch with the shop floor I have gained certificates for operating chainsaws, MEWPS, chain hoists, etc.

Most of my work is for direct customers in the engineering industries, though I occasionally take on subcontract work for marketing and translation agencies.
