Mr Roland Hall MITI
I had a 20-year career in non-fiction publishing (editor and editorial director – and I did various translations while working, albeit on a part-time basis) before retraining as a translator, passing my MA with distinction. My thesis was on the untranslatable film Les Bronzés font du ski and my long translation project was a doctoral thesis on football and politics in the Balkans. I have translated games rules, legal letters, logistics documents and sales pitches for Hasbro, roleplaying games for Asmodee and Chaosium, and a large number of rules for many French and Canadian publishers. Recently, I translated non-fiction books about yoga, Eddy Merckx and Porsche Outlaw cars. I have also translated pitches for TV, children’s non-fiction books for UNESCO and historical non-fiction books to accompany photographs from the Roger-Viollet collection. I have high level Adobe InDesign skills and I offer a variety of services, from proof reading to full packaging, including translation, design and layout delivered as print-ready PDFs.
