Mrs Birgit Bode-Welch MITI

With a rather colourful career path I hold a number of qualifications in quite a variety of fields ranging from dental nursing to wholesale and export trading.

After completing a two-year stint as a clerk in charge of the training as well as an e-learning facility for military and civilian staff of the Ministry of Defence in Mill Hill, London I decided in 2005 that my passion for language, which I literally learned and perfected “on-the-go” needed to be made into a career. After overcoming various obstacles took my translators’ exam in 2006 followed by my interpreters’ exam in 2007.

Due to having a lot of law-related exam-subjects, I decided that this was an interesting field to work in and gained all necessary certificates to submit for approval as a duly authorized translator and certified interpreter which was granted by the Higher Regional Court of Hamm in 2012 and again 2017 as well as by the Regional Court in Hannover in 2017.

Because terminology management became increasingly more important, I studied and took the ECQA-exam “Certified Terminology Manager (Advanced Level)” in 2016 and am continuously re-certified.

In 2018 I attended a certification course to become an intralingual translator for Easy-to-Read German, a subject that was and is a close to my heart and passed the final exam the same year.

In Addition, I am an expert in machine translation as well as pre- and post-editing, develop and hold e-Seminars™ in regard to business related subject and co-author books for adult education.

I can safely say that my passion for language has increased since I first started out all those years ago.
