Mrs Hiba Bayyat MITI
I am a native bilingual and bicultural English–Arabic linguist with over a decade of experience delivering accurate, nuanced and culturally informed communication in high-stakes environments.
As a CIOL Chartered Linguist, DPSI (English Law) qualified and NRPSI registered Public Service Interpreter, and an ISO qualified Translator and Transcreator with an MA in Translation, I provide legal interpreting, translation and transcreation services between English and Arabic. My MA dissertation, awarded distinction, examined the Arabic translation of humour and wordplay in children’s literature, reflecting both analytical rigour and sensitivity to voice and style.
My previous role as an accredited Immigration and Asylum Caseworker gives me a strong understanding of immigration law, legal procedure and advocacy, which continues to inform my work in courts, tribunals and complex legal settings.
Alongside legal work, I specialise in transcreation and cross-cultural content adaptation for organisations seeking to engage Arabic-speaking audiences. I work across legal, public service, marketing, education and nonprofit sectors, ensuring messaging remains accurate while preserving voice and intent.
I have a particular professional interest in neurodiversity, mental health and cognitive science, and I am currently studying towards an MSc in Neuroscience. This subject knowledge supports my work on projects relating to ADHD, autism, executive functioning and education.
I am also a qualified Tutor, Trainer and Assessor for interpreters and translators, and hold CELTA and TEFL certifications.
Alongside my professional practice, I contribute to sector development through initiatives such as Legal Insights, The Linguists Café UK and the ADHD linguist, supporting professional growth and accessibility within the language community.
