Kathryn (Kathy) Fairlamb is an experienced French to English translator based in the south of France. She was born and raised in Cumbria, in the UK, and has been living and working in France since 2000. She holds a bilingual master’s degree in European Public Policy and has worked in government (FCO) and in the IT sector, as well as having taught English in both business and educational settings.

Specialised in legal translation in particular, Kathy also regularly translates, edits, post-edits and reviews documents in the following sectors: energy & environment, banking & insurance, defence, IT & technology, scientific research, vocational training, healthcare and academia. This diversity has strengthened her ability to adapt to highly specialised technical terminology and to deliver accurate, natural translations across a range of sectors.

Kathy’s philosophy is that translation is more than simply about replacing words; it’s about conveying real meaning in a given context. She prides herself on meeting deadlines, carrying out thorough terminological research, maintaining open communication with clients (law firms, companies from start-ups to large corporations, public bodies, universities, research institutes and translation agencies), and guaranteeing complete confidentiality and data security.

Kathy is a qualified member of the ITI and of its French equivalent, the Société Française des Traducteurs (SFT). She teaches English language and translation classes at the University of Avignon.
