ITI provides a range of online courses and webinars, as well as face-to-face workshops, seminars and our biennial conference.

Workshops

ITI has delivered a variety of workshops over the years, covering different areas of specialism, from ‘High level writing with style’ to a dual French/English Litigation workshop. The breadth of subjects offered by ITI aims to provide something for everyone, with opportunities for you to deepen your knowledge of a particular specialism or to widen your skills set.

Have a look at the ITI Events calendar, which shows forthcoming training and other events. New workshops are added throughout the year.

Online courses

ITI runs two online courses, ideal for translators at different stages in their career. The tutors on both courses are successful practising translators who will share their knowledge and experience to help you grow your freelance career.

Setting Up as a Freelance Translator (SUFT)

This course is designed specifically for graduates and those just starting out in their freelance careers. Setting Up as a Freelance Translator provides those with little or no business experience with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the competitive world of freelance translation.

Advancing your Freelance Translation Career (AFT)

This course is aimed at translators who have been freelancing for some time and want to focus on finding premium work with high-quality agencies and direct clients.

Advancing your Freelance Translation Career will help you identify your differences to give you a competitive advantage. You will define your ideal client base and learn how to fine tune your sales techniques, and uncover new ways to build and maintain customer relationships. Having learnt the theory from the experts, you will then go on to test your ability in a live situation, being given the opportunity to pitch yourself directly to an actual client.

ITI Conference

The biennial ITI Conference is the biggest event in the UK translation and interpreting calendar, attracting delegates from all over the world. Taking place over two days, we bring together some of the leading figures and practitioners in translation and interpreting for a packed programme of inspiring sessions.
