ITI to make the case for professional translation at Going Global Live

Going Global Live is the UK’s largest event for businesses that are expanding into new markets. It takes place at Excel London on 11 and 12 November 2026 and welcomes more than 5,000 visitors over the two days. The programme includes more than 50 seminar and keynote sessions, with speakers from organisations including IBM, Microsoft, Visa and Canva.

Sara’s talk, When words matter – how professional translation enables global conversations, takes place on Wednesday 11 November at 4.15pm. Sara will focus on what happens when businesses treat translation as an afterthought and the damage this can do to their reputation and their business.

The talk will set out the risks of getting translation wrong, including contractual disputes, regulatory non-compliance, and product safety problems. It will also explain what a qualified professional adds: an understanding of context, tone and culture, specialist subject knowledge, ethical judgement and accountability for the finished work.

Sara will point businesses to the ITI Directory so that they can find a qualified translator or interpreter.

Client-facing advocacy matters

ITI’s advocacy work on social media mostly reaches people who already understand the value of languages. Taking part in Going Global Live gives us the chance to speak to a different audience: business owners and managers who buy translation and interpreting services. Many of them might be making decisions about language services for the first time and would benefit from an understanding about where to begin.

Sara said: “Sadly, some businesses only think about using a professional translator once something has gone wrong. Going Global Live lets us reach companies at the point where they are planning their move into new markets, which is when good advice makes the biggest difference. We want them to leave knowing what professional translators and interpreters do, why it matters and how to find the right person.”
