This practical workshop is designed to equip translators and interpreters with the necessary tools to use inclusive language depending on language, context and clients’ wishes.
The training will delve into the historical, current and future status of gender inclusive language, and more specifically its standing in the fields of interpreting and translation, discussing the challenges and potential solutions to these based on empirical research findings.
The session will be interactive, and participants will be invited to test their existing knowledge as well as their ability to use inclusive language – in both spoken and written form - working from sources in English. The session will also feature plenty of opportunities for discussion and exchanges on not only the strategies that will be presented as part of the training but also techniques in a range of languages, giving rise to a multilingual sharing of ideas.
