| Plain English & Copy-Editing as a diversification skill for translators Our next webinar is on Monday 23rd February at 11 am and counts for 1 hour of CPD. It is designed for translators and language professionals who are interested in expanding into copy-editing and proofreading. The 50-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session will explore the different editorial roles — from developmental editing and copy-editing to proofreading and ‘revision’ — and show where your existing skills as a translator naturally fit in. You will also learn how to develop and refine your editing and proofreading expertise, and how to attract and secure new clients. About the Speaker: Philippa Hammond Philippa runs a small translation, copy-editing and rewriting business. She speaks French, Spanish and Portuguese and works in English. She has been in the translation industry since 2004, when she started out in-house, but has run her own business since 2008. Philippa specialises in the international development, education, policy and governance fields, and works mainly with boutique agencies, INGOs, non-profits and small businesses on stakeholder-facing materials. Philippa also contributes to the profession through her recent appointment to the Translatio Standing Committee, the editorial team behind FIT’s quarterly newsletter.
