I translate a wide range of technical documents from French and Portuguese into English, including: patents, abstracts and WOSAs, particularly in the fields of aviation, automotive and mechanical engineering; civil engineering documents relating in particular to cable-stayed bridges, reinforced concrete, prestressing and structural design; tractor and car manuals; automotive production process sheets; and printing and graphic arts press releases and articles. More unusual assignments include translating the proceedings of an annual fashion conference and a guide to sailing off the coast of Brazil. I also revise other translators' work, assess other translators' work as part of clients’ quality assurance and supplier recruitment procedures, and assess French to English examinations for Qualified Membership of ITI.
