London Regional Group: Remote Simultaneous Interpreting

London Regional Group: Remote Simultaneous Interpreting

Débora Chobanian, interpreter and LRG Committee member, will talk about RSI - Remote Simultaneous Interpreting. She will talk about the benefits and challenges of RSI, explain how it works, the equipment needed, and the rapid learning curve for interpreters who have had to adapt to this new way of working. Interpreters will be offered a practice session on RSI. There will also be a short presentation by a sound engineer who will talk about acoustic shock and good sounds practices for interpreters when working online. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

Conference interpreters who would like to practice interpreting for free on Zoom, specially taking relay, are welcome to join. Debbie will hold a separate session for free to talk through the necessary equipment, basic Zoom features and how to take relay prior to the event. If you’re interested, please send an email to [email protected] with a short profile and indicating your language combination. The deadline to submit your interest is 16th October 2020. All qualified conference interpreters are welcome to apply.
