Since graduating from university with an honours degree in modern languages and starting my working life as a staff translator in a multinational pharmaceutical company, I have accumulated more than 30 years’ experience. I work from German, French, Portuguese and Spanish into English in the medical, pharmaceutical and related fields, not only translating but also performing bilingual revisions (sometimes called proofreading) of other translators' work as well as monolingual reviews of papers written in English by non-native speakers. I comply with the requirements of ISO 17100:2015, the internationally recognised standard for translation services.

I undertake CPD regularly and research my work carefully. My many years’ membership of the ITI’s Medical & Pharmaceutical Network allows me to draw on resources through its digital archives and the generous sharing of knowledge by fellow members, who include medical doctors, pharmacists and pharmacologists.

I have lived and worked in both Germany and France.

A qualified sports/remedial massage practitioner (London School of Sports Massage) and yoga teacher (British Wheel of Yoga), I have a long-standing interest in holistic healthcare, particularly the contributions to it of diet/nutrition and stress-management tools such as meditation and yoga, and I welcome translation assignments in these areas.

A favourite pastime of mine is grappling with the complexities of Sanskrit. In 2024, I obtained an IGCSE (international GCSE) in Sanskrit Language & Literature - a particularly proud achievement at my age! I am now pursuing my interest in both the language and the literature through formal higher-level tuition as well as ongoing self-directed study.
