Kate Fox - EX:CHANGE 2026 Poet in Residence

Kate Fox

Freelance writer, broadcaster, stand up poet and creative/neurodiversity facilitator

As a poet who is also a trained journalist and ethnographer, and a spoken word artist who has a doctorate in Northern English stand-up performance, as well as a neurodivergent woman, I’m always translating between ideas, modes and registers.

As a freelance writer, I am also experiencing the challenging and exciting landscape in which AI and reduced funding mean that I must be open to different ways of collaborating with my peers and the people who employ me, whilst also still being primarily motivated by a love of words and language. It can sometimes feel like all the landscapes I work across are changing too rapidly to track. So, being inspired by existing and new ways to use my long-standing experience and skill is something that deeply resonates with me.

Having performed stand-up comedy and been Poet in Residence for events from the Glastonbury Festival to the Great North Run, I’m also looking forward to bringing the playful seriousness of being “in between” words and worlds to helping document and tone-set at EX:CHANGE 2026.
