You can join at any time of the year
Individual Membership
You need to be currently studying for a degree in any subject. Membership enables you to explore the opportunities available within the industry, network with, and learn from, experienced professionals and it enhances your CV.
With less than a year’s translation or interpreting experience Affiliate membership is intended for translators and interpreters who are starting out in their career and taking the first step up the career ladder. Time to make connections with professional ITI members and develop your skills and experience.
With more than a year’s translation or interpreting experience you are establishing your career. Now is the time to invest in yourself, grow your knowledge and experience and start moving towards Qualified Membership.
With a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, Qualified (MITI) translator membership is intended for translators who have an established career in translation and are recognised for their expertise as highly skilled professionals. You will need to take a written assessment of your skills to gain this category of membership.
With a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, Qualified (MITI) interpreter membership is intended for interpreters who have established careers in interpreting and are recognised for their expertise as highly skilled professionals. You will need to take an interview assessment of your skills to gain this category of membership.
Academic membership is intended for lecturers of translation, interpreting or languages, from any university or other higher education establishment, with a postgraduate degree and published research.
For professionals who have an interest in the translation and interpreting industry but who are not translators or interpreters themselves eg CEO, project manager or lexicographer.
Existing members with 10 years membership of ITI (a minimum of 7 years as an MITI) can apply for fellowship (FITI). Fellowship recognises significant achievement throughout their career within the translation and interpreting industry.
Corporate Membership
Corporate Language Service Business
For businesses or organisations that provide translation, interpreting and associated language services. Your business is likely to employ project managers and/or translators/interpreters.
For businesses or organisations other than Language Services Businesses that have a professional interest in the translation and interpreting industry. Your business might have in house translators/interpreters or be a technology provider to the industry.
For universities or other higher education establishments that offer degrees in translation, interpreting or languages.
