Qualified Member MITI – Interpreter

With a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, Qualified (MITI) membership is intended for interpreters who have established careers in interpreting and are recognised for their expertise as highly skilled professionals.

 

There are 3 categories of Interpreter:

  • Business and Community (B&C)
  • Police and Court (P&C)
  • Conference

Entry Requirements

All categories require:

  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience as an interpreter demonstrated through a minimum of 2 professional references from previous /current employers or clients.
  • Evidence of a degree, in any subject, or references covering a total of 6 years’ relevant experience.
  • Successful completion of the Interpreter Interview.

 

In addition:

 

Business and Community Interpreters (B&C)

 

A minimum of 150 days/1000 hours demonstrated through references or summary invoices. This can be across B&C and P&C areas.

 

Police and Court (P&C)

 

A minimum of 150 days/1000 hours demonstrated through references or summary invoices. This can be across B&C and P&C areas.

A relevant qualification eg. DPSI (Law) DPI or current full membership of the NRPSI

Standard current DBS disclosure or a CTC check.

 

Conference Interpreter

 

A minimum of 150 days/1000 hours demonstrated through references or summary invoices.

Current full members of AIIC do not need to provide references.

Membership Fees

A one-off application fee of £60 is due when you submit your completed application

The MITI annual membership fee is £231

Assessment fee for Interpreters interview:  £389
